President, Julian B. Kiganda has been appointed to the ConvergeUS Marketing Council in Washington, DC. ConvergeUS (the non-profit arm of TechNet, a bipartisan, political network of technology sector CEOs and senior executives) mobilizes corporations, academic institutions, and other nonprofits to leverage technology for positive change on issues facing American society. The goal of ConvergeUS is to drive technology-based breakthroughs and accelerate social innovation.
Vice President, Loán C. Sewer has been appointed to serve on the boards of the Black Public Relations Society of Washington, DC (BPRS-DC) and African American Real Estate Professionals of Washington, D.C. (AAREP). BPRS-DC was founded to unite and increase the active participation and employment of African Americans in the practice and study of public relations and to create alliances with other organizations. The mission of AAREP DC is to lead in the intellectual, professional and economic development of African American commercial real estate professionals.

VDG President, Julian B. Kiganda was invited to speak about the role of culture and creativity in business to students, community leaders, and other attendees at the 8th Annual African Immigrant Refugee Foundation Conference. The African Immigrants and Refugee Foundation (AIRF) was founded in 2000 to facilitate the effective transition of African immigrants to American society and to support their productive, sustainable integration into their new homeland.
11.04.10 VDG Hosts Branding Workshop at New WBC in Rockville
VDG Executives Julian B. Kiganda and Loán Sewer led the first-ever workshop for the newly launched Women’s Business Center (WBC) in Rockville, Maryland. The Women’s Business Center at Rockville opened its doors on November 4th. VDG’s branding workshop received stellar reviews from a packed room of attendees who walked away with key principles to revamp their brands from the inside out.

9.16.10 VDG participates in an Evening with the Experts
As part of a movement to revitalize the Southeast DC neighborhood of Anacostia, VDG was invited to be a part of An Evening with the Experts. Hosted by the Creative Economy and Entrepreneurial Development Initiative (a project of Arch Development funded by the Department of Housing and Community Development), the project’s goal is to bring viability to existing small businesses or nonprofits, to help launch new businesses and to rejuvenate historic Anacostia with a creative twist. Vice President Loán Sewer, consulted with local business owners to give them practical tips and advice on how to brand and market their businesses for success.

VDG President, Julian B. Kiganda, was interviewed by Taylor Thomas of WHUR about her role as an entrepreneur and businesswoman, and her contribution to the National Urban League’s I Am Empowered movement by designing the dynamic Centennial Exhibit launching at the organization’s conference in July 2010. WHUR is Washington’s only stand-alone radio station and one of the few university-owned commercial radio stations in America, broadcasting since 1971 to nearly a half million listeners daily in five states and can now be heard around the globe on the web at whur.com.
7.2010 National Urban League Exhibit opens to rave reviews
On July 27, we unveiled the National Urban League’s Centennial Empowerment Exhibit in Washington, DC. The opening, hosted by President & CEO, Marc H. Morial, drew such notable figures as Rev. Jesse Jackson, Vernon Jordan, Alexis Herman, Cornell West, and many others. Hailed as a multimedia phenomenon with more than 25 high-definition LCD's, the design—which chronicles the Urban League’s journey to the present—drew audible gasps, caused tears to flow, and visibly inspired attendees of all ages and races to take charge of the future. The 4000+ square foot, high-tech, high-touch exhibit traces the history of the Urban League through an interactive look at its vision for future generations of communities of color. Sponsored by AT&T and designed and built in a record-breaking five months, the exhibit aims to empower visitors to actively improve their communities and change lives. 6.2010 Loán Sewer joins Vibrant Design Group as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development
We welcome Ms. Loán (Lo-Ann) Sewer, our new Vice President of Marketing & Business Development/Chief Communicator. Loán is a talented marketing and communications professional whose experience in sales, marketing, public relations and advertising spans numerous industries such as tourism and hospitality, international travel security management, media, and the federal government. The former Director of Sales for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism recently joined Vibrant Design Group full-time and spearheads outreach to current and prospective clients.

4.2010 VDG Awarded Contract to Design National Urban League Centennial Exhibit
Vibrant Design Group was recently awarded a major contract to design the National Urban League’s Centennial Exhibit for the organization's 2010 Annual Conference in Washington, DC this coming July. This historic exhibit will be a multimedia phenomenon celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Urban League and is centered around the NUL’s “I am Empowered” initiative. 4.2010 VDG Launches New Web Site
April 2010 marked a major milestone for Vibrant Design Group. The firm launched an all new web site which features a wealth of information, resources and new samples.
3.2010 Insight Books wins two ADDYs®
Vibrant Design Group won the highest accolade in the world of Advertising for its production of the book Insights. The ADDY® Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels from anywhere in the world. Insights is a compilation of writings by adult learners in the District of Columbia. The Claude Brown Writers & Readers Series, sponsored by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Adult and Family Education, introduces adult learnersto published writers in a moderated discussion of reading, writing,and self-expression.
3.2010 VDG Launches Branding Workshop Series
Vibrant Design Group launched its successful workshop series for small businesses and non-profit organizations—"Branding from the Inside Out"™—on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Alexandria, Virginia. Branding enthusiasts from various sectors came out to learn the ins and outs of personal branding and how it largely impacts their professional brand.
1.2010 Vibrant Design Group becomes part of history in the Caribbean
The territory of St. Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles made history
when for the first time in 50 years, the National Alliance beat the incumbent Democratic Party in the small Caribbean island's elections on January 22, 2010. VDG developed a brand and campaign strategy for National Alliance candidate, Senator Samuel, R.E., who gained 40% more votes than in the last election. Read more about it here.
12.2009 VDG Launches Zinn Education Project Web Site
Vibrant Design Group launched the Zinn Education Project web site in time for the History Channel's "The People Speak" documentary. The book emphasizes the role of working people, women, people of color, and organized social movements in shaping history. The site includes an interactive "Search by Timeline" feature as well as a content management system which allows the client to easily make updates and add new lessons.

VDG President, Julian B. Kiganda, was interviewed on American Urban Radio Networks, the nation's only African-American owned network radio company and the only African-American broadcaster with a bureau in the White House. Julian was featured as a multicultural marketing expert on the show which focused on a study on the largely untapped $80 Billion African immigrant consumer market.

The British Embassy partnered with National Geographic to host the 2009 Women’s Empowerment Conference to promote gender equality as an issue central to U.S. foreign policy towards Africa. The program featured such notable women as: Baroness Valerie Amos of Great Britain; Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, Melanne Verveer; Global Ambassador for CARE, Sheila Johnson; Emmy-award winning news anchor, Tracey Neale, and many others.
